Many of these cartoons were done for a writing class, about writing an autobiography. I was writing text each week but eventually decided cartooning was easier than writing. For one week the class assignment was to write 10 things about yourself. I did this. (You can click on a cartoon to expand it.)
This too was for the writing class. The assignment was to write about "happiness".
I found a drawing done by my father, Herman Belson, that he did in the back of his high school annual in 1926. It showed what a "Dude" looked like - I suppose someone who was "cool" or whatever the current phrase is. I tried here to do a similar drawing for a Dude in my High School in 1959 and one for the current day 2015.
The assignment was to write about "envy". This came to mind.
A handout for the family Hanukah party in 2015.
I did this cartoon as a handout for our Thanksgiving dinner in 2015. I think people got the "joke" but I'm not sure.
This was one of my first cartoons. It is a true story based on an experience when I was in primary school in Idaho Falls, Idaho while growing up.
What a great compendium of cartoons. You are on your way. And Susan and I feel a great sense of pride that we helped to launch your creative cartooning. Time to write the graphic autobiography!
